Om Namo Shibao

Bakhrahat in South 24 Parganas, a common village inside Sadar Amtala, named Jhikurberia.  There is 'Barakachari', the second largest pilgrimage site in South 24 Parganas.

Many years ago, this area was in the joint taluk of Saburn Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Gobindpur-Sutan.  Shashman was in this place then.  It has been heard since that time, the name of this Barakachari.  According to tradition, Bhutnath himself used to hold judicial meetings at this place.  So since then the name of the place is Bhootkachari.  Over time, the court of Bhutnath Shiva became famous as the greatest.  Then the name here is Barakachari.

Shortly afterwards, a saint took refuge in this crematorium while passing through the crematorium.  And since then the local people have benefited in many ways.  People think that he is Bhootnath himself.  Since then the place has improved a lot.  Then, when the saint died suddenly, the whole village was in mourning.  Devotees do not burn the body of the saint and bury it in this crematorium and in that place.

Miraculously, an ash tree came out of the tomb of the saint and everyone believed that this tree was the image of that saint.  Strangely the desires of the local people began to be fulfilled, the majesty of the place spread.

Although the village was saved in the flood of '7, the ash tree was not saved.  Is extensively damaged.
Later, at the request of the devotees, another Ashwattha tree was planted at that place and an altar was built around the tree, which has now taken the shape of a temple.

People came from far and wide to pay homage to Baba Barakachari and express their thoughts.  The devotees wrote their wishes on a small piece of paper and tied it to the temple.  By the grace of Thakur, they are relieved from suffering.  Worship is performed every Tuesday and Saturday.  At present thousands of people come to worship every day.

That shashman jungle is no more today, it has changed into a public road, but the image of that father has not changed.
